Pupil ( Pinoy Band )

Pupil (band)

Pupil is a Filipino rock band composed of Eleandre Basino Buendía a.k.a Ely Buendia on vocals/guitars (from the Eraserheads), Yan Yrastorza Yuzon on lead guitar, Bogs Jugo (of Daydream Cycle) on drums and Dok Sergio (from the bands Teeth and Daydream Cycle) on bass.

Behind the Name
Frontman Ely Buendia chanced upon the name Pupil while browsing a medical book. The band wanted a classic name for a rock band. Before using Pupil, they tried several other names, such as The Gets, Traitors, Tyrel Corp and Narcom. They chose the name Pupil because Buendia liked the fact that it was the part of the eye where light enters. Guitarist Yan Yuzon likes its double meaning. Yan also liked the “eternal learning” connotations of the name.

Although the band itself is relatively new, all of its members have some experience in the Philippine music scene. Pupil is managed by Day Cabuhat and Ely Buendia's wife, Diane Ventura, who was also manager for The Mongols.

They released their debut album last November 10, 2005 entitled Beautiful Machines under Sony BMG records. It consists of fourteen tracks.
The sound is described as dark, loud, and romantic. It is very guitar-driven, stripped down, and the album has a very distinct sound, different from most mainstream Filipino bands, thanks to the band's combined talent and skill.

Pupil was featured as the Rising Star for the month of May in MTV Philippines, with Gary Valenciano as the Lokal Artist of the Month.
Just recently, the band released an acoustic version of "Nasaan Ka?" (for Sony BMG's CD Sampler) and acoustic version of "Dianetic" for radio release.
In the 19th Awit Awards held in Casino Filipino, Pupil won the Award for Best Performance By A New Group Recording Artist/s Category. http://www.awitawards.com.ph/
Their first single, "Nasaan Ka?" bagged the Best Rock Video Award at the MTV Pilipinas VMA 2006.

Steve "Croc Hunter" Irwin " The World's Original Wildlife Warrior"

Steve Irwin 1962-2006
Television personality and environmentalist Steve Irwin has died from a stingray wound while filming off north Queensland, Australia.

Steve was a true original; he brought energy and passion to everything he did. Whether it was performing groundbreaking crocodile research on board his vessel Croc One, filming wildlife documentaries or simply celebrating his children’s birthdays, Steve didn’t do anything by half. A hard-core Wildlife Warrior and dedicated family man, Steve did for conservation and education what no one had ever done before. He brought wildlife conservation right into people’s living rooms and created a whole new generation of Wildlife Warriors.

The exceptional life Steve led is a testament to his respect for all creatures great and small, and his passion for wildlife was matched only by his passion for family life.

The world remembers September 11 attacks

The world remembers September 11 attacks
Millions are preparing to pause to remember an event five years ago that changed the world - the September 11 attacks on the United States.
Terrorists hijacked four planes, crashing two into New York's World Trade Centre and one into the Pentagon.

The other, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a field in rural Pennsylvania.
